onside kicks will work sometimes. They are just risky and need to be used in the right spot. That was the wrong spot.

according to the announcers they work 65% of the time if you take out end of the game onside kicks(when it's obviously coming) out of the equation.

that was the right spot, our defense was stopping them every drive so we had faith that they wouldn't get much on us if it failed. and if we had recovered, chances are we would have scored again and drilled them deeper.
