We start our entry level people at 18$ an hour. The only requirement is being alive. I have scheduled probably 100 interviews over the last 6 months. Only probably 20-25 have showed up. Many start and work a couple days then quit. Good company with full benefits even for part timers. We still can’t get anyone.

I hear the same thing from friends of ours that own various businesses, from metal buildings to mattresses. People will schedule an interview and not even show up. They'll work for a day and not show up the next.
Even the ones "willing" to work have no loyalty. $15 today. Drive past QT offering $16, so you take that job. Next week? $17 at Burger King. Companies are being pressured to hire these job hoppers simply because they can't staff up.
I talk to retail buyers, store managers, etc, every single day in my role. The level of understaffing at retail is absurd, and it is bad at every level that they touch. Shippers don't have drivers. Trash pickup doesn't have drivers. Employment verification services don't have workers. Janitorial companies don't have staff.
Imagine being a store manager and working 16 hour days mopping floors, unloading trucks, stocking shelves, working the register... and so on.
The freaking Chili's near our house closed because they couldn't staff up. This place was always packed before Covid. They reduced hours and only opened the bar area, and eventually offered only curbside. The manager was waiting tables and serving drinks.

Where is this? I'm looking for a career change.
I'm going to need more than $18 an hour to start though.
