Alas, this "research" would necessarily draw them to the people best able to get their information out there and those people would almost always be the best funded so.........meh

I think McCain was compromised. I think he may have been compromised his entire political career. Romney on the other hand is a classic case of wanting the "in" people to like him too much. Mostly because regardless of his politics, he's just more comfrortable around a bunch of DC elite than he is around rank and file Republicans.

In hindsight, we would have regretted a McCain election mightily. Romney, much as I can't stand him now, would have basically been Bush SR.
