There are few ad-supported services that are free, like Pluto TV.
Peacock’s (NBC’s streaming service) lowest tier is a free, ad-based tier. But you get shows like House, Columbo, and Rockford Files, it’s a helluva deal.
Edit: If you want live TV like cable news, you’ll always be paying a premium for that. Since I stopped watching cable news altogether (I think 2014 was the year), except on election nights, my enjoyment of life and my TV bill has been much better.
(I mooch off of friends for live sports.)

I’m trying to pin down one for sports, then probably Fox News related content. Fox News has their own app along with fox nation. Looking for sports only.
