Why are people in this thread pretending like this is crazy or something? He had no real qualifications for the position in the first place, keeping a guy because he didn’t fail as hard as you expected is a how you make bad decisions worse

After the Watson stuff and with the pick shortage at the time, Culley was their like 50th choice at HC. Now the job can actually attract the candidates they are looking for

Culley will be paid his contract out and got to fulfill a lifelong dream to be a HC and that road will be more open to him because of it potentially. He still comes out on top in all this given like a year and a half ago he was a career WR coach with no real HC prospects

It’s crazy you would hire a coach with the expectation he will only be there for a year

Yeah, it was a dumb hire in the first place. Plus, based on in game coaching decisions this year, there was really no chance he was going to stick.

Yeah living in Houston it was known all along that he is just a placeholder until Nick had the coach he wants. I thought it would be at least 2 years but they obviously think their guy is available now so they are going to get him.
