We were in town for the Miss. State game and had brunch there Sunday. The place was packed and the food was great. Service was awesome, too.

Where is it at? I've heard great things? Do they have any gourmet dishes or is it just your typical ham and cheese omelettes, etc?

Just east of the Corporate /Jefferson intersection on the East side....very extensive menu. It's a good place.

Def. more than a ham and egg type of place. The original is is old Mandeville.
They have a few in Destin that do well, but the locations in BR just do ok. One has closed.

The owners of the Mandeville location and the Baton Rouge are the same...good LSU folks.Great food and service.

I love eating at the old mandeville location a few times a year. It is in an old neighborhood close to the lake. It is located in an old cottage and has great service.
There has been some long simmering debates about the places in BR on here and you can tell real quick that there are a few people that are happy with their waffle house and $2.99 grease house places and they love to hate them some Broken Egg. Some places are indeed bad when they spread locations.
If the places in BR are underperforming maybe they deserve some of the negative talk they get, but I just don't see it from the experiences I have had in the mandeville spot. I will be in Sandestin this weekend and I plan to have breakfast at that location too.

High prices + mediocre food = closed in BR

Because ther are no restaurants with mediocre food that thrive in Baton Rouge.

They have good food and you pay for it..i dont mind that..i just wish they kept earlier hours so i could stop by on my way to work.

The food has been great every time I've been, the only keeps me from going back more is the prices.

I've never been to the one in Baton Rouge, but the one in Lafayette is top notch.

Consolidated under one roof, instead of two locations from it's BR start, and with set hours now, ABE's starting to shine, I'm glad they're up the street.

I went there once and was not impressed at all. Way too much american cheese. They use very cheap ingredients.

i always thought that the food was good and prices were reasonable at the first baton rouge location .. they overpaid through the nose for the old mandina's spot and had to eventually consolidate all of their resources under one roof ... the first location was just miserably mismanaged ..

TigahRag...I will give you the Oneal lane location that you argue was just mismanaged. Once you are up and running, you can pay me a little for the FFE and start paying the rent. Then we will see if your theories work.
I closed the Oneal lane location because we didn't get any business Mon-Fri...that is the only reason. The rent on Oneal is @8k a month and I pay to own the Bocage location @9k a month. A thousand dollars a month makes very little difference in the profitability of the unit. But if you aren't doing any sales...then, it's was a hugh burden to all three of my restaurants to keep that location open.
You can defend the Jones Creek/Oneal lane area of town all day. It was a bad location for our concept...that's it. We had great weekends, but our week days made it not profitable to remain open.
It would probably be a good location for a "dinner only" restaurant, but our concept (all eleven of them from Florida and soon into Dallas) sells breakfast and lunch. That didn't work out in that location.
Also...the same manager that handled the Oneal lane store is at Bocage now...and she does a great job for us.
So call me names for responding to set the record straight...
BTW...there isn't any american cheese in the building. Monterey Jack, Cheddar, Swiss, but no american.

IT'S FRIKKIN EGGS! HOW CHEAP CAN YOU BE?
I'm a lover of the grillades and grits. I'll patronize you here but in Destin I'm a Donut Hole guy. Just sayin...

Love Donut Hole donuts, but their Key Lime Pie s@cks..an especially egregious sin for a Florida-based establishment.
