Everyone knew that the system would be pay for play legally. Nothin Aggie is doing is illegal and the only part of the transfers leaving to get an nil deal that’s illegal is if schools tamper while the players not in the portal.

Boutte situation doesn’t necessarily mean people were tampering, he’s the type of player that knows once he puts his name in the portal that he will have options and those options will include nil.
When you’re as good as him you don’t need to be tampered with to leave, you realize that you will command a deal north of half a million and you will chose from your options once in the portal.

Tampering is a bigger deal when you have guys that are good but haven’t realized how much other teams would like to have them and how they would get nil deals that they didn’t realize they would get at other schools, until they were told about it.
Those guys on the roster that are good starters, but don’t have big nil deals are the ones we would be in danger of losing to tampering.

For instance, a player that’s like jay wards ,nabors,or bechs talent level. Those guys may assumed me they aren’t worthy of a big time nil deal. Then all of the sudden someone from Ole miss, for example, comes along and whispers in nabors ear that he’s setup for a 500k nil deal at ole miss. Nabors then goes to lsu and realizes that he can’t get that from us . Just like that, tampering has taken our best slot guy because he’s made an offer he can’t really refuse,it’s especially hard for a guy that’s not from here and isn’t gonna win a natty before he leaves most likely .

The super big name guys will make the same money if they are tampered with so its not as easy to lose them

If Aggie boosters are negotiating NIL deals with recruits before they enroll, it’s objectively illegal - under both NCAA regs and Texas state law. Same goes for any player in the transfer portal.

Now, it remains to be seen whether there’s any paper trail and whether the NCAA actually enforces the rules. But make no mistake - there are still rules.
