I think some of you are forgetting that many people on the national level, not just hopeful Pels fans, viewed CJ as a negative asset this offseason because of his contract. He has had his worst season in quite a while, has had quite a few injuries and is still out with some lung issue. So I think some of you are over valuing CJ.

Also, Dame is currently hurt too and they may have to shut him down for a while to let him heal his nagging abdomen injury. Considering their current record, a while might be the rest of the season while they tank.

So if the season is viewed as lost that changes Portland's perspective a little. I do agree that they are more likely to do nothing than sell low, but a package built around Sexton for McCollum seems like a decent value right now.

Im strictly speaking on what the Pels have to offer. I dont think there is much of a middle ground there. Either not enough, or too much. At least nothing i've seen presented seems reasonable. But it is pretty much impossible to know CJ's market value/asking price right now.

Its not that I think CJ is some hugely desired guy, but that Portland getting back a package of misfit parts/expirings isn't going to be a good sell for Lillard/Portland.

Sexton and Lillard would be an all time bad defensive backcourt if you pay to keep him and Hayes/Temple are basically filler non-needle movers and Rubio, also a FA, doesnt make a ton of sense to overpay.
