I was in your position last year except I was buying for myself. I was looking for a 7mm-08 but wound up going with a Bergara Premier Highlander 6.5 creedmoor based on a recommendation from one of my dad’s good friends. At the time it was really difficult to find a rifle I wanted that was chambered in 7mm-08, and 6.5 creedmoor ammo was much more widely available. Both calibers can shoot a wide variety of projectiles, have very little recoil, and are plenty capable of killing whitetail deer. She’ll be happy with whatever you choose.
