So I just got back from a week long vacation in the ozarks. Had my sister in law watching after the garden while I was away. She did some watering and picking. But when I got home I was not expecting what I saw. Gone for a week and things got out of control.

First of all, she didn’t do any weeding or pruning (not that I was expecting her to), so I had to clean that up today. Now back to routine maintenance.

Took a few pictures while cleaning up. And I hope my kids like cantaloupe. Watermelon is getting bigger, and a second one is growing! Also this past week the purple hulls exploded!

I did have to harvest a good bit more once I got home, but most of this she picked.

Harvested alittle under half the potatoes. These had the plant tops browning. Pulled almost all the squash. Unreal how well they did this year in mushroom compost and consistent irrigation. We’ll be planting some okra, black eyed peas, pumpkins and gourds tomorrow evening in their place.

Picked a cantelope this morning, but it was too soon. I have about 10 that are fist-size or bigger right now. Looking at about 5 watermelon right now.

My cucumbers are looking yellowish and not really filling out after the first two I picked. I'm reading it's either from too much water, or not enough, too much fertilizer, or not enough. I suppose I should just guess at one of those and cross my fingers? Lol
