Family of 5 here but for a $7100 deductible, quoted at 2450 a month. If I dropped to a $17,100 deductible, I'd be in at $1250 or $1450 (can't recall off top of my head) a month.
7100+(2450*12) = 36500 per year plus other out of pocket costs
What the frick is insurance paying for if you get sick? You would have to get really sick before insurance would pick up the tab.
You would be better off dropping that coin in a Savings Account at 0% interest and pay for health care out of pocket. Ask for upfront Cash pricing.
After about 6 years you would have saved up over 200k.

That's about what I pay for a family of 4 and I feel like an idiot every month when they pull the payment. And no one in my family has recurring medical problems or prescriptions.
I had one minor surgery about 15 years ago. Other than that, I doubt that we incur more than $2500 a year in medical services.
I justify it to myself as one way to prevent going bankrupt if any of us need a prolonged hospital stay. I'm past 50 so I worry even though I am healthy as a damn horse. I'd love to know a better option.
