having star players "walk on," funded entirely by NIL contracts?

This would be the fastest way to have the NCAA come sniffing around.

Also why would a player take an NIL deal just to turn around and give some back to the university to pay tuition when they could go to a school that pays their tuition and also they get a NIL deal?

That’s an excellent point; however, if it’s limited to star players, tuition, etc, may be insignificant if the NIL contracts are sufficient.
