why does this message IMMEDIATELY appear after i have placed a bid on LSU tickets? you have got to be kidding me. there is no way someone is on the other side of them internets lurking and out bidding me ten dollars every 10 seconds on a bids that have anything from 1hr to 3 days left. Anyone have any answers?? is it a hoax?

Sellers have friends who bid to intentially drive up the price.

Without knowing what you are using to oreder tickets, I would say that someone has placed a maximum bid amount that is higher than what you are bidding.
Just a guess. Might not have anything to do with it.

No what is happening is this lets suppose you place a bid on an item that is currently at $100, you bid $110, not sure how ebay calculates the bid increase, but it will bid for you up to that amount. If you bid $200 and no one else bids on it you will get it for $110 or what ever the increment price is, it does not automatically put the $200.
Hope this helps

Place your highest maximum bid and go on your way. That way you won't worry yourself. Either you will win it . . .or not.
Experience.
Experience.

you will be outbid every time until you pass some other person's max bid. Theoretically, if you knew what that person's max bid was, lets say it was 200$, and the price is currently at 100$, you could bid 199 and make him pay at least that amount if he wins

If you have the time... its always best to put in your highest bid in the final seconds of the auction. I never bid early because all that does is have your own bid drive up the price... if its something expensive, or that I really want, I will wait until there is about 10 seconds left, then put in my highest bid... that way, I will likely get the very last bid in and I will also avoid driving up the price in the early hours of the auction...
Hope this helps.

in Ebay, there is a Maximum bid you can enter that does not get updated until it is needed, but it is updated automatically if needed.
i.e
A bid can be at $ .50
i ENTER $ 1.00
if THE OTHER PERSON HAS A
a max bid of $10,the bid will
immediately jump by the min necessary,
i.e. to $ 1.50 AND WILL CONTINUE TO DO SO NTIL THE $10 mAX LIMIT OF THE OTHER PERSON HAS BEEN REACHED

It has to do with the your highest possible bid. If the item is at $100 and someone bids a max of $150. The auction will go to $110 and you come along and bid $125 the auction will go to $130-ish. Unless you bid over the other person's $150 it will keep saying you been out bid.

I wouldn't put a high maximum bid in until late in the game. If you put a high one on to start with, you may have to pay a higher price than you would if you had waited. Many times friends of the seller or the seller him/herself (using a pseudonym) will place bids to jack up the price. The friend would never actually have to pay for the ticket, but is a "driver" to get to the destination.
I get real serious during the last five minutes (if I have access then). With failure and success, you will work out your own strategy.
A little advice someone shared with me is to ask the seller off-line how much they would take for the merchandise and offer it. I don't think E-Bay likes this too much, but I've seen things I've bid on disappear way before bidding expires, so I expect it goes on.
Be real careful of E-Bay and Craigslist scams. It is best to use PayPal or a credit card. Ensure also that the seller has a good sales AND prompt shipping history. If ordering for the UF game, you'd sure like the tix to get to you beforehand.
Most of these are "Duhs" to those with some experience, so sorry to you who are "in the know". Please feel free to add or correct.

Ding Ding Ding. I have friends that use this. It is a computer program that you enter the maximum amount you would pay for an item and it automatically bids for you up to that point. So basically you are going to have to go above tha point if you want the tickets.

That's how I do it too. I have been really annoyed at how often when bidding other wise some bidder with no buy history keeps bumping the price on me. I have to wonder if it isn't the seller or seller's friends bumping the price .

Bidding on stuff "one week" before it ends doesnt make since to me. Odds are someone is going to out bid you.....why are you driving up the prices?
