Loved the Interlaken area. Lauterbrunnen is top 5 in my favorite places I've visited. If Interlaken is looking too expensive, an alternative is to stay in a small, quaint town on the lake called Spiez. It's only a 15 minute train ride from the center of Interlaken and is much cheaper than staying in Interlaken. We enjoyed visiting Thun for half a day also.

I’m guessing Interlaken is more of a summer destination?
