I appreciate that and also understand that often a tiger doesn’t change stripes easily, however, this issue is a microcosm of alot of discussions on TD that are often heavy on unsupported opinions / biases and are subjective versus being viewed in the totality of facts and objectivity.
Example:
Johnny always speeds. Speeding is illegal. Johnny hits another car while speeding on Saturday. Based on Johnny’s past he’s a habitual speeder and already ruled guilty by public opinion. Except on Saturday, Johnny was speeding to get his hurt child to ER. Example of current facts matter for extenuating circumstances in addition to past behavior.

Let’s say he was having a PTSD panic attack. He still hurt someone. All the PTSD means is that he needs help, not that he shouldn’t be prosecuted.

Not when harm is done to someone else... I feel for the guy and thank him for his service, but he cant go crazy and knock people out in a parking lot. If he was that messed up he should have already been under the care of professionals.
