I'm gonna sort of go a different route here and suggest The Passenger by Ulrich Alexander Boschwitz.
It is historical fiction written by a German Jewish man in 1938. It is about a Jewish business owner in Berlin who has to flee the country after Kristallnacht. It is thrilling because you're reading a piece of historical fiction written before the actual start of the war and the worst days of the Holocaust.
