I’m not sure where this idea that getting the flu or a bad cold ever became some walk in the park. Being sick sucks. Especially right now.

Yea and the OTC drugs do exactly what the are supposed to do make it so you feel better.
ETA The bottom line is before Omicron OTC meds did exactly 0 for COVID…..now it responds like other upper respiratory illnesses, like cold and flu, to them.
