That's weird because the same thing happened to me and it was probably around the same time frame. I just remember thinking how the hell can you call yourself Burger King and run out of frickin hamburgers?

Same thing happened to me, Burger King had no whoppers. I got a chicken sandwich.
Different BK years later, I ordered a whopper and the girl told me they were out. I was like "damn, you serious?" She said "No! This is the home of the whopper! How could we be out of whoppers?!" Good question.
