Now do the fricking math and look at E number of players that have played over the last 25 years and the probability of them getting injured enough to cost them their career or a lot of money. There is a FAR FAR higher percentage of them getting in a car wreck and the same thing happening than playing in 1 fricking game. Ask the Dreadlocks of Doom.

fricking “business decision ie Respect my decisions” pussy culture.

It is a simple risk/reward analysis for the individual. The risk of a career ending or changing injury is probably statistically low if someone actually did the math. But does the "reward" of playing in the Texas Bowl, or Liberty Bowl, or (insert any other bowl besides the playoffs) outweigh the potential risk? However small it may be.

For some guys getting to play with their teammates and wear the school colors one final time outweighs that risk. For others, probably not. Especially considering the reward of avoiding a serious injury in the bowl game that is probably not going to affect their draft stock to any significant degree is life changing money.

I also find it ironic when fans get mad at the players and call them "selfish" when the fans are exhibiting the exact same selfish behavior. The only reason the fans want to see (insert player) play in the bowl game is because it gives the fan's favorite team a better chance of winning. So in essence you are saying you want a player to take on a risk (small as it may be) solely to increase YOUR enjoyment in watching the game. If the unlikely happens in the bowl game is that same fan going to fund the potential compensation lost by the player because of the injury? I think we know the answer to that.

I'm not a fan of the mindset either. But I'm also not selfish enough to say I know best as to what a player should or should not do. That is his decision and his life. So yes, I do "respect his decision". Even if I may have made a different decision.

As for the Texas Bowl I will treat it like I treat all other non-playoff games. I will watch it because it is something to entertain me and it will be the last time I get to see LSU play a game for 8 months. But I won't be emotionally invested in the outcome one way of the other because win or lose it will have no bearing on the 2022 season. LSU will start 0-0 next season.
