Nuh uh, you misunderstood is a silly way to go through life.
“I assume you mean the dumbest thing i can possibly imagine because that’s easier to argue against” is equally silly.

I'm sure your plain words don't mean what they seem to mean. That's my fault.
My plain words never said what you said they did. You are just trying to dunk on me so you are refusing to meet me where I’m explicitly trying to meet you.
1) i never said we SHOULD do anything
2) I never said walls dont work
3) i definitely never said i trust our government or any other government to honestly or effectively spend a dollar on ANYTHING
4) i never said that my preference over all other options is to invest in these countries.
I simply stated that, if invested honestly, stabilizing your volatile neighbors has a positive impact on unwanted immigration. And given that that could be done, would be a better use of a dollar than stabilizing the Middle East. Seems pretty cut and dry.
Now if you want to debate whether we SHOULD be doing that, find another guy. Because i dont think the US government should be doing 90% of what its already doing.
I’m simply talking efficacy of an idea.

if invested honestly,
Let us know the first time that ever happens - since the Marshall Plan anyway (and that was rife with problems - the biggest of which is that it set in motion the idea that giving away massive amounts of money was an effective way to solve anything.
Especially to inherently corrupt governments who are responsible for the problems we are trying to bribe them into solving. (hint - if they 'solve' the problem, then the $$ spigot gets turned off - how many fat despots are going to ignore that fact??)
