This is purely conjecture (no sauces or whatever), but I’m inclined to believe we’re waiting for Georgia’s OC or an NFL guy.

A name I’d like to throw out there is Matt Nagy (RPO heavy/West Coast style offense). He’s currently the bears HC but will most likely be fired. Thoughts?

Nagy is an NFL guy. No college or recruiting experience.

Matt Nagy should absolutely not happen. They are firing him for a reason. He wastes qb talent terrible option. But Monken would be solid

He is being fired because he is terrible and obviously doesn’t know how to handle a young QB.

His only OC experience is at Kansas City under Andy Reid. I wonder who was running that offense?

Absolutely not. He will be fired from the Bears for cause - cause he sucks.

dude's playcalling gives me aids

best player on offense is montgomery and they never check down.

playcalling is extremely predictable - run, run, long-developing pass on 3rd down with a shite oline that gets his qb killed

it's like he always wants to play ball control, but never has the lead

Sounds like 2010-2016 LSU offense.

imo, yea.
some of the formations they run are more up-to-date, but the timing of the play calls give me serious les miles vibes.

Oh hell no. Have you seen the Bears offense and he will be available but he is an NFL guy.

Nagy made a name for himself as Andy Reid's "OC" and stealing Canada's jet sweep gimmick.

Do you really want the inferior OC to Canada?

You guys have your bar set a little high. Nagy may be dropping off as a head coach, but he's a head coach b/c he was a successful OC and quarterbacks coach in the NFL. He had a top 5 Offense in the NFL his last year as OC. When he took over the bears, they were complete shite and he went 12-4 in year one. He's declined since then, but he's a really good coach. Andy Reid thinks Nagy is a solid coach, but LSU fans think they are too good for him. That is this board in a nutshell

eta: I don't think Nagy would come here. And we have no idea how he would handle recruiting so it's a dumb arugment to have in my opinion. But I just think it's funny that people here think he sucks.

Sure it's Andy Reid's offense, but he did give up playcalling to Nagy late in 2017. They had just lost 5 of 6 games and they won the last four games with Nagy calling plays.

Andy Reid is the offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Nagy’s last year at KC was the year another former Reid OC won the Super Bowl and the NFL being the copycat league it is had a team try and do the same thing by hiring the current Chiefs OC at the time.

Georgia's offense seems to sputter against good defenses. I'm sure having to start Stetson Bennett contributes to that, but they don't do anything that really catches the eye.

Nagy was hired at the beginning of the playoffs before Pedersen won his first playoff game. And Nagy still has the best regular-season record for the bears in the last 15 years. My point was that Nagy is a good coach. The NFL chews up coaches worst than the SEC does. Pederson won that Superbowl you mentioned in the 2017 season and was fired just under 3 years later. There are only like 7 head coaches in the NFL that were in the same job 5 years ago today.

Why? They have the best Oline. Kind of easy to be successful when you have that.

He has also only been there for a year, so he didn't recruit any of them.

I don't see anything exciting about that offense unless your Oline is just better than everyone else.
