Conflicting reports on this. O took complete credit for the defensive turnaround. So either he is lying and it still took Kiffin telling them our defense sucked and we could blitz, or O is telling the truth.

Yes, because it would make complete sense for Ed to wait until AFTER he was fired to step in and fix an issue that, if fixed earlier, could have prevented his firing.

Aranda left and the defense went to complete shite. "Coincidentally" the 2020 defense, with much fanfare from the HC, also changed its approach/scheme from what they ran in 2019. Ed then fires his 2020 DC and hires a new guy. "Coincidentally" the new guy is running the same scheme/approach as the 2020 DC...with only marginal improvement. What is the common denominator there?

Then, suddenly, in the eighth game of the season, the defensive scheme/approach COMPLETELY changes from the one they had been running for two years...under two DIFFERENT DCs. So what is more likely? Ed had a moment of clarity he never had in the prior 17 games? Or, he got out of the way and let his DC fully dictate the scheme/approach?

I might be more inclined to believe Ed wasn't the problem if we had not already seen the results of his meddling before. In early 2017 he didn't like Canada's offensive scheme/approach. LSU then goes into the Troy game and the offense "suddenly" looks NOTHING like it did in the first 4 games. Now, do we think Canada all of a sudden decided to completely abandon his approach in hopes of putting up a whopping ZERO first half points vs. Troy? Or is it that his moron HC demanded he change the approach? I'm going to lean towards the former because the Canada style offense seemed to return the very next week vs. Florida (after the embarrassing loss to Troy), resulting in a win.

LSU was at their best when Ed had ZERO input on the actual gameplay approach. It was only when he decided to bless the team with his extraordinary x's and o's mind that LSU went from a perpetual 9-10 win (and national championship) team to a team forced to win their last game of the season in order to reach .500

There's more than one scenario. O was the idiot demanding 4 linemen and no blitzing, for sure. Daronte didn't make one fricking halftime adjustment all year, also true.

But the blitzes which is all this d lived off of the last 3 games were put in by Kevin Coyle. Daronte had zero involvement. He didn't magically competent once he was no handcuffed.

You rehashed your same points in a longer form. I really don’t care what happened or who did what to change the defense.

A change was made, great! I’ll bite and give Jones credit. Here are some more points why he still isn’t good.

He caught Bama off guard, but Arkansas and everyone else made adjustments and schemed for LITERALLY his only blitz of All out Blitz. He had no other blitz package, must be waiting for Kiffin to tell him another blitz to use, right?

I am trying to be nice, but he is subpar as a DC. I hope he has success on another team, but nothing he has shown proves he should be at LSU. He never should’ve gotten the job to beginning with!
