I did my entire first playthrough this way and realized that I ultimately relied way too much on skills/weapon art (L2) with those huge greatswords and colossal swords. It was definitely fun but was incredibly OP towards the end and then even through my 2nd and 3rd runs.

I was thinking that my mimic tear on the third play through for my original character may be too OP at this point. I was playing around with the idea and decided I was going to see if I could start a new character and use houndstep as my special ability. So basically, my special ability does not give me any offensive aspect, just a much better and more iframes type roll. So I took a confessor base build, beat up enough to get a long sword. I have worked up to get the houndstep by getting lucky with poison and the Night Calvary falling off the bridge. My final sword I will be shooting for will be the Gargoyles' Greatsword which should work with my faith build.

Someone just developed a new web app so you can compare AR and FP Efficiency for offensive spells.

Here's the Reddit post from the creator with details, including a link to the web app: Reddit Post

Just finished my second playthrough and did the Frenzied Flame ending. That bleed build was fun. I’m about to do a faith/strength run through for this next playthrough and respeced. Blasphemous blade and Golden Order Greatsword for this run through plus incantations. It’s fun so far.
