i actually respect interracial couples, but the ones on tv feel fake and forced.
almost every single commercial on cable tv starts off with a black person. sometimes i wonder if it's a requirement or something. it doesn't matter what the product is. it does not upset me, but it is noticeable to see 4 different commercials in a row lead with a black person. and it's this way on every single channel. i miss older commercials where things weren't forced and felt more natural. and that was with all different ethnicities.
and then there are these comedy commercials where the black guy is always the smart one and the white character is the dumb one. it would be nice to see more balance here.
movies are the same way. so many forced characters just to check a box, but often those characters are terrible and unnecessary. and i'm someone who loves older comedies featuring a diverse cast. the difference is they were talented, funny, and it felt natural. it would be nice to see a non comedy with a diverse cast where a black person is the main bad guy. mix it up.
