This is what Miles has to say about Shep? Sounds like he's just a bystander.
quote:

"I think we're trying to get him and get us into the flow of offense and right now we're not calling his number appropriately and we're not getting him onto the field within the flow of the offense and so thats uh certainly an issue for us on offense. It's something we want to get done but we're not getting it done right now."

Don't tell me has anything to do with the defense. Don't say he is being paid for his clock or general game management skills.
Don't tell me his specialty is the O-line.
Don't tell me he's the "discipline guy".
What exactly is he doing all day if, 6 games into the season, he seems surprised and frustrated that he can't get his top offensive recruit into a game where the offense scores only 3 points on a drive aided by two personal fouls?

Sounds like a whole lot of doubletalk/coachspeak/saying a lot without saying anything to me.

His speciality is his offense. Perhaps you didn't notice (or have a clue went) he told JF to f-off and started calling the plays in 2006.

He should have had Shep in on our 2nd quarter drive. Putting him in when we're backed deep on our side of the field isn't very intelligent.

Had we not gotten the facemask call in UFs first drive of the third, I bet we would have saw RS.

He's got two weeks, LSU just lost to the #1 team in the nation who has the #1 defense in the nation.

Had this been Alabama, perhaps you would have a point.

That's typical of Miles, but this idea that it just "didn't happen" is comical. I used to think he talked like that b/c he thought we were stupid and didn't think it necessary to speak honestly about the team. Now I'm not so sure.

I dont understand with the offense as terrible as it is why he doesnt use some of the talent on the team. How many times do we have to see Scott nailed after a 2 yard run and Williams tip toeing around the end until someone touches him and he goes down or manages to get out of bounds?

What is the harm into giving a couple of series to Shepard and Ridley to see what they can do. I say even a couple of series to Lee. Lets face it, JJ is not the answer for 3 more years plus Scott and Williams are gone, give Ridley some reps. How about Randle? I didnt even see him out there this week?

The point is that we are halfway through the season and Shep's role is now exactly what it was in the first game: Non-existent. If that's what the coach wants, then I disagree, but at least it would be him owning the situation. He acts like it's a natural occurrence that he has to deal with instead of a situation he absolutely created by not using the first 4 games to create an offensive identity that includes Shep.

If you think Jimbo called the plays without Miles interference in the first part of 06, including the Auburn game, then you are the clueless one.

I'm pretty sure that Miles took over play calling after the Auburn game, hence the reason fisher left. Fisher if possible was worse under both saban and miles than crowton.

So we should see Crowton get a call to be the head coach-in-waiting at a school like Florida State when he leaves LSU?

At least Jimbo can develop QBs.

Jimbo was relieved of his playcalling duties at halftime of the Ole Miss game. Todd Monken took that over through that game, Arkansas and the Sugar Bowl vs Notre Dame.
