5* projected first round draft pick 2 years ago. Nothing… he didn’t touch the court much at KY and hasn’t at LSU so far. Any idea from you?

Doesn't really matter who you are when you have a horrible coach.

It's crazy that a player with this kind of resume in high school can turn into a complete nobody at the collegiate level.

You can put up those numbers in high school if you are 6'9", 190lbs and dominate the paint. That game doesn't translate in college. He tried to become a jump shooter at Kentucky but he's just not great at it.

He was put in specifically for defense last night and immediately let a back door cut and reverse layup happen.

I was right behind McMahon and he made some bad decisions with subs, but some you just have dumbass players. He drew up a great play at the end and Hannibal just decided to be a hero while Baker was WIDE OPEN

He didn’t draw up shite. Lsu had the ball with 46 seconds left and two timeouts. Number one, they should’ve went for a quick drive to the hoop to get the 2 for 1 and have the last possession. But instead, McMahon doesn’t call timeout and they proceed to dribble the ball outside the 3 point line for 20 seconds and let Hannibal try to dribble through a triple team.

It is incredible to me how bad of an in-game coach McMahon is.

Agree. 5* forwards and centers are often times a crapshoot. Look at Efton Reid. When you're that much taller and that much more athletic than the people you play against in high school you're gonna look like a force of nature. When you get to college, particularly in a high major program, where everyone is as athletic and/or tall as you, you need to have developed actual skills to be effective.

A player like Damian is extremely athletic but very raw skill wise. Kind of like an Alex Fudge. Sheer athleticism won't cut it. You need to develop skill also.

Not to say Collins is unskilled, I think he has some decent touch around the rim and is a decent defender. I think he should have played more yesterday.

Alex Fudge is currently on the Lakers. Would be nice if Damian Collins could turn into an NBA player here.

Collins cannot transfer again. NCAA cracked down on double transfers.

I'm well aware. To be more specific he's on a 2-way contract meaning he will be spending a lot of time in the G-League for development- precisely because he is a physical specimen that needs time to develop.

Even at Florida, Fudge showed improvements in ball handling and his offensive game. Collins needs to show improvement beyond just being an athletic freak.

Thank you all for the replies. I know his family and watched him in high school and was not very optimistic about his skill transferring to the collegiate level. I followed him at Kentucky, where he didn’t do particularly well, but he did lose his father after a practice one day. He and his father we’re very close, and it affected his mental state tremendously.
