One of my best friends had a tough year. Son diagnosed with a very rare cancer and has been fighting all year. Prognosis is good. But make a wish has reached out and he gets to meet JJ for the Chiefs game on 10/8!

Nothing official yet as far as schedule for the day. But the whole family gets to go to the game and go on the field.

They do not have any LSU ties but I’m trying to convince them to wear some gear because I think it will strike a chord with Jett’s.

Anyone else had any experience with these Make a Wish experiences?

Yes. It's a wonderful organization from what my fiance tells me. She has 4 kids with the same terminal disease. Her 16 year old passed in April. They all were granted wishes from make a wish. They chose to travel. The girl who passed went to China. Her choice. They have one left to Disney and a donor just granted use of a jet. It's in the works still.

This should be no problem and I doubt he will need convincing. Ironically my fiance and her kids are in the Twin cities

I heard a Make A Wish story this weekend visiting a business acquaintance.

His son battled cancer as a child. Has recovered but I guess it was pretty dire at the time and they did a Make A Wish thing. His son wanted his own personal one of a kind yu gi oh card, or maybe it was a Pokemon card. One of those.

They obliged.

Kid says, "Dad, this will be worth something one day."

Fast forward 20 years, and the young adult has flamed out on some things and so my friend the Dad tells him, "if that thing is worth anything, now's the time to cash it in."

They sold it on eBay for $350,000.

My MIL runs the one in southeast La. She has inspired me to give more time to this great organization. It’s amazing to see how great they treat the individual and their families at Christmas time.

All 4 of your fiancés children have or will pass away before adulthood? That’s horrendous.

That maybe truly be the worst thing I’ve ever heard.

We had a really great experience with Make-A-Wish. My daughter has gone through several health trials in her childhood. Three years ago during the pandemic, she wanted to go to Disney for her wish but they weren’t letting any of the kids go because of the pandemic. She still really wanted to do something so she decided she wanted to go to the beach instead for a week. They set us up in Hilton head on the beach in a literal mansion. The place is by far the nicest place I’ve ever stayed. I looked it up online and during the summer it’s $40,000 a week!!! Best week I’ve ever had with my family so far.
