wears his new eye glasses only in the field and to run the bases? Why would he not wear them at the plate?

On the radio it says he wears contacts.

i'm guessing they are because he has contacts and they are just for protection from dirt etc

They’re probably to keep dirt out of his eyes. I doubt They are graded to stop a fastball

If they're not prescription, they probably get in the way while hitting. I can't swing a golf club with my glasses on either.
