We'll be heading to Atlanta to see our Fightin' Tigers play in the SEC Championship. It'll be my brother-in-law, my two nephews (18 and 20), me and my three kids (14, 16, and 20).

I haven't been to Atlanta since the Tennessee game in 2007. I'm sure a lot has changed. That said,

Where's the best place to stay that's relatively convenient to the stadium? It looks like the downtown area is either booked or very expensive. Are there other areas of town we should consider?

What are some good places to eat and drink? More lively sports bar atmosphere and not strictly 21+ bars (kids are underage).

What's the best way to get tickets?

Has LSU released any activities, tailgates, Friday night pep rally, etc?

Midtown and buckhead are the likely areas for best accommodations.

I'm still looking for tickets myself, but my advice is: Look for a hotel near a MARTA station. You can park for free at a number of stations, the train tickets are cheap, and it'll take you right to the stadium. Vine City is the closest one to MBS, but you can get there from any other station, just switch at Five Points to get on the Blue/Green line.

only if you're north of downtown. Even then, Buckhead has a crime problem, so be careful. Midtown might be better.

Buckehead is a little far out, right? What's Midtown like? Looking at a map, I see that it's next to Piedmont Park and Georgia Tech. Is it safe? Do they plenty of things to do, restaurants, bars, and such? Convenient to the stadium?

Stay in Midtown or Buckhead. Way nicer than downtown and way more restaurants and bars. Quick uber or marta ride to the stadium as well.

Best bar areas to checkout are the Beltline (Eastside)-Ladybird is my favorite spot, Inman Park, Virginia Highlands, Midtown (Colony Square area), Buckhead (younger crowd) and the Battery.

I live in Midtown a couple blocks from the park. It's safe and tons of food/drink options. The Midtown Marta Station is easy access to the stadium too.

Thanks. Lots of Midtown recommendations. That looks like it may be the best spot. Any recommendations on food/drink?

Favorite Midtown drinking spots are Establishment, the Nook, McCray's Tavern, El Valle, Fado's, Pour, Cypress Street Pint, Park Tavern.

Food- South City Kitchen, Cafe Intermezzo, Ecco, Marlow's, any place in Colony Square, Lure, Empire State South.

Best hotel in Midtown is the Loews, but it can be pricey.

College football hall of fame is sweet. Not many good places to drink downtown..there is Hudson Bar & Grille and Park Bar are the best places to drink by the stadium.

Checkout the beltline, 30+ places to eat and drink within a 1mile of each other. Its upbeat and the safest area.
If youre looking for bars thatll let people in under 21..try lost dog tavern and several other bars right next to it

if your bringing kids checkout the beltline. Ponce city market has a rooftop with carnival games and serves drinks
