Lengthy Article

quote:

A source close to the A&M side of the discussions told GigEm247 that it’s Baylor that is threatening the most legal action against Texas A&M should the Aggies choose to leave for the SEC. And that it’s the SEC’s fear of that legal actions that is helping to slow things down.

If the national media is amazed that a barely-over .500 team in the last ten years could be the center of attention, they should be bewildered by the fact that one of the consistently worst teams in a BCS conference might be the reason the Aggies are being held up.

Baylor president Ken Starr wrote an op-ed piece in the USA Today yesterday titled "College Athletics Becoming Embarrassment." At best, his piece can be described as a thinly veiled plea of desperation.

And it's ironic that the president of the Big 12's lone private insitution, immune to the Freedom of Information Act, would call out others for their lack of transparency, saying that "Too much has gone on for too long behind closed doors. It is time for transparency and accountability in the operation of America's collegiate athletic conferences."

Why can't they be pissed?

Just because Aggsy thinks it's fun to make fun of the boys on the Bravos doesn't mean they have to sit around and take shite from ya in the real world.

You think UT is arrogant but fail to see you guys are pricks yourselves. Your pompous attitude towards others, namely TT and BU, makes you UT'esque. Don't think otherwise.

I think you'll find many Aggies don't have an issue with the Raiders when it comes to athletics, and certainly not when it comes to working with them, but just as Texas they pull an inordinate amount of weight in certain matters in the state and particularly within the legislature.

You'd have the same issue with Vandy were able to control things in the SEC.

You are correct, they can be pissed and we do treat them much as we are treated. The shite rolls downhill.

That said, I'm not sure what Baylor can do about it. I don't think we've signed an agreement with them. Our agreement, I think, is with the Big XII so wouldn't a lawsuit have to come from them?

can't blame baylor for trying to save themselves. they are headed to the sun belt if a&m leaves.

they are only delaying the inevitable. there's no ann richardson to ultimately save them this time.

We, generally, have issues with their fans being complete dicks and academically with them wanting a piece of the PUF pie.

Texas Tech may well wind up as the 14th school, or one of the 16.

Not at all out of the realm of possibilities.

Baylor is trying everything to nail Jello to the wall. See this gem of an article from another Baylor alum and former (one term, mind you) Governor of Texas Mark White:

Baylor wasn't upset when they were ditching the SWC and TCU, Rice, UH and SMU for the Big XII.

Hypocrites

Looks like Baylor wants to go with aTm to the SEC. I remember when the ACC expanded there was one team that threatened legal action then dropped the legal action after getting an invite. I could have remembered wrong. Could someone help me with the facts. I know some of you guys are better at finding stuff on google than me and love to correct posters if the facts are wrong. Thanks for proving my memory correct or wrong in advance.

He (and other baylor grads involved in tx politics) know that there is no way in hell they will be saved into a BCS conference like the last time. they will end up in C-USA, where they rightfully belong anyway.

When you see me use those terms you can direct that comment at me. I've met some jackasses from Arkansas (my Dad's family is all from Arkansas), but I start out assuming you're not one of them.
