West Virginia has been invited to join the Big 12 Conference, college football industry sources told CBSSports.com Friday.
The Mountaineers will accept the invitation, sources said. The Big 12 is expected to officially announce the invitation later today.
The Big 12's board of directors voted Friday morning and chose West Virginia over Louisville. They will stay at 10 schools, a source said.
On Tuesday, West Virginia had received a verbal offer to join the Big 12, but then the league put the Mountaineers on hold because the league’s board of directors wanted to perform “due diligence.”
The league was split between adding West Virginia or Louisville to replace Missouri, which is expected to leave the league for the SEC.
Missouri still hasn’t officially left the Big 12. The Tigers are still negotiating an exit fee to leave the league. The SEC’s Digital Network, an official website of the SEC, accidentally posted a story Thursday night that Missouri would join the SEC on July 1, 2012.
If Missouri joins the SEC next season, West Virginia still may have to wait until 2014 to leave the Big East for the Big 12.
The Big East has a 27-month notice before teams may leave the league. West Virginia is the latest team to announce its leaving the Big East Conference. Pittsburgh and Syracuse are headed to the ACC and TCU will join the Big 12 next season.

Is the Big East really a better option? They're having to raid CUSA to keep their membership up.

Twitterverse seems to suggest that L-Ville and someone else will get invites in a year or two to take it to 12.
Regardless of money, the Big 12 is on a death wish if they do not go to 12.

Probably Cincy.
So, according to Bevo, they "upgraded" their league by Trading Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri and Texas A&M for TCU, West Virginia, Louisville and Cincinnati.
Basically the Big 12-2-1+1-1+3 swapped some of their best members for the dregs of the Big Least.

sad when the Big 12 is your most attractive option

So...this makes 10 with Mizzou leaving, correct?
Does this mean the Big 12 has "green-lighted" Mizzou's withdrawal plan?

This means that the annual TTU/WVU game is on. This is going to become one of the best "rivalry" games in all of college football.

Big Congrats to the WVU fans who have been long-suffering and ready to leave the Big East for the Big Time. OK, you've taken a step - you're in the Big XII now, if you accept their invite. Best of luck to y'all. I still thing you'd have been a great fit for the SEC. Maybe another year, eh?

What?
and what school did you get your degree from? from the quality of some of the post you have on the msb probably took your 6 years at some third tier college in Louisiana.
Before you bash WVU academics how about you look at the actual ranking of some of the programs before fact less bashing a school. It has been discussed on here why the school takes a hit in the overall rankings due to instate requirements being so low that every WV native has a chance at a high education

looks like WVU is getting an immediate full share in the cash. TCU somehow got bamboozled into a graduated share increase over 4 years (I think it's 4).
