WVU also placed 15th in collegiate apparel profits and the highest rated ever ESPN Thursday AND Friday games involve WVU. We do a good job drawing on tv, and travel as good/if not better than any team in the country. But I guess we are all just poor white trash. We are much more than just this state. We have a lot of alumni in the DC area, and hell half the South Carolina residents are from here or their family was. We would have a great rivalry with them, Kentucky, and Tennessee. Also, WVU is one of the few ooc schools that boasts an all time winning record against are friends from the SEC. This state BLEEDS for this team.. MIssouri could care less, they have the Chiefs and Rams to worry about. Heck, Chiefs may go 3 and 13 and still outdrew Mizzou.
Oh, all great points.

Who are you and why are you here?

none of this addresses the concerns I have brought up.
to even make existing members break even you need to add 41.3 million (to be exact) per year to existing contracts. YOU CANT DO THAT!!!
not to mention you are a liability for a future sec network for the reasons I pointed out above.
AND GOD DAMN IT DOC STFU AND GO TAKE AN ECON 101 CLASS. You are clueless when it comes to this stuff. DO you really believe that because wvu made a 6 million dollar profit they are suddenly a good program to take despite all the reasons I have pointed out they are not?
Do you have a gf in morgantown or something? you keep pimping them despite post after post showing you how wrong you are.
I wont even get into academics and research dollars on why they are not a good fit. That goes completely over your head.

no you havent been spouting off useless shite all week. your arguments are based on real data are opinions that are formed only after knowledge of the subject from what I have seen. We might disagree but I respect your opinions and thoughts on the subject. Docs arguments havent been. I respect his opinions on football matters but his conf expansion opinions suck and are just that opinions based on nothing.
and I know econ 101 doesnt cover this but its an easy insult to throw out.
and no I didnt make the number up.
each sec school at the moment makes 17.3 million, so wvu will need to add that to the existing contract to cover themselves.
For all teams of all sports to travel to WVU(or even half) your looking at on average about 1.5-2.5 million in travel cost when you factor in charter flight, food, hotel, equipment travel cost, etc. so leaving out A&M and taking the middle number thats another 24 million.
so WVU will have to cover atleast 41.3 million just for schools on average to break even. That doesnt include them covering their own travel cost etc.
expanding isnt worth it just to break even. lets say existing members will vote yes for a 2 million per year profit after travel cost. that means wvu would need to make 41.3 + 24= 65.3 million, not including A&M or WVU seeing the same profit, or travel cost for WVU.
I dont need to link how much each sec school made its 17.3. i have linked it all over the place the last couple of days.
travel cost I am estimating but you have to realize football money pays for the other sports to travel like tennis, swimming, softball, band, hell at lsu even basketball. that is a lot of money. I guess when the football team doesnt travel there then its not as much but still a lot of money.
on profit, im guessing but 2 million per school hardly seems worth it to me and thats all i used. hell they could raise ticket prices 5 dollars for every home game and make more then that and fans would pay it not to expand. no reason to expand for that little but I wanted to use low numbers to not seem like I had an agenda because I dont. I just want was is best for LSU and the SEC now and in the future. WVU is not that.

Christ, man....you need to rest on this. We get it, you don't think WVU is a good add. Some of us think that of the teams left, they are.
Posted on 9/20/11 at 12:04 am to lsu777
Lsu777, your numbers are way off. Just made up stuff you spit out. It does not cost 2 million to travel. Bowl games maybe because teams are in the area 7-10 days prior to the games. It costs a few hundred thousand at most. Where is your proof?
Posted on 9/20/11 at 12:05 am to RogerTheShrubber
no actually i think they are a good get for every reason other then financially. they fit perfect other then that. and im just enjoying the banter. got a 5 month old who wont sleep right now so i have nothing better to do.

what do they bring to the table athletically?
Posted on 9/20/11 at 12:18 am to Dilrod
yea i was high on the estimate. but even with out any cost factored in a new school would have to bring in 43.3 million( not counting A&M) just for existing members to make 2 mil more per year and the new school to make the same. 17.3 is what sec schools currently make.
if slive takes wvu he beleives they can make the sec atleast that. i just dunno if they can. thats a lot of coin. and 2 million hardly seems worth expanding for in the first place. Im really having a hard time seeing how this is really gonna make the sec a ton of money without a dedicated SEC network.
still think yall are defiantly a get if we go 16 and cant get any nc school and only get 1 acc school. if it makes you feel better Im all for WVU over FSU, clemson or any school outside of virginia, NC, and missouri.
hate the thought of missouri but they bring too large of a population base to pass up.

Final four men's basketball team, one of the better coaches in college basketball, a perennial top 25 football team that has a good history (winningest team to not win a nc
And last time I checked 49 of the 50 states have backwoods hillbilly rednecks.. Including the great state of Louisiana.

Kentucky wipes the floor with you. Florida has 2 NCs in the past decade. and the majority of most SEC fans don't care about basketball.

oh boy!!! WVU is probably around #33 all time CFB programs.

let's talk per capita..
and btw, how's your baseball and track & field programs? LSU and Arkansas would mop the floor with you guys.
