In order to join the SEC, Texas would have to agree to equal revenue sharing. They will never come.
Was going to say the same. Sure, the SEC would take Texas in a heartbeat. But only if they played by the same rules as the other teams in the conference. The SEC doesn't need to make special arrangements for anyone it takes on.

Goor lord Texas, with all that money and recruits you have at your disposal and your natural built in superiority, how is it that you have the same amount of titles the last 39 years as Georgia Tech, Clemson and BYU?
Good thing you choose 39 years instread if 40 or 41, which would mean you'd have to give Texas credit for 1 or 2 more NC's.
Texas has great FB history, they come in at #7 on the CFB Data Warehouse rankings. The power/money ascept is a more recent developement, say the last 15 years or so. ETA: yes they always had money and power, but both are much greater now than in 1980. Simply counting the # of NC is not a good measure for that. Its a huge school, with a large following in the 2nd largest state and some large TV markets. They are also in the unique position of being in a tenuous conference with no history, that is kind of boxed in and has no real prospects for growth. Because Texas (the state) is more or less in the center of the country, it makes them a possibly for 3 major conferences. If Florida (the school) was in a similar situation, they’d be just as sought after, but they are in a much stronger conference so no need for them to shop around.

There's no doubt in my mind," one Longhorns head coach said Tuesday, "that if Texas called the Big East and said we wanted to come, they'd say, ‘Absolutely.
Yeah, and I bet the Big East and ACC would have hard on's if U Florida called and said they wanted to join up.
