Like the title say explain to me how adding TAMU and three other teams would increase the SEC pay. AS it is they are making good money.

so you think A&M is a shitty team?
and you really need someone to spell it out to you? A&M brings a Texas market....which brings more money

Theres this thing called a tv contract. Its an agreement between the SEC and ESPN and there is also another between the SEC and CBS. They were negotiated with 12 teams. Since those agreements were made subpar leagues such as the PAC 12 have received more money based of precedent (our contract). If we increase the number of teams we get to renegotiate the contract and continue to receive more than our competition. A&M not only puts us in a position to renegotiate the contract but adds bargaining chips as we have increased significantly the amount of people watching the SEC+added a competitive team with tradition.

Thank you...your response sums it up perfectly. I can't believe any college football fan with a tv set and/or internet is clueless enough to even ask that question.
In addition, the SEC will not be inviting any directional or city schools to bookend with the Aggies (leave them for the Big East), so no need to worry about "shitty" teams.

Plus, if we get to 16 it will probably also mean a Championship Semi Finals and Finals, which adds two more big revenue games.
Don't you get it?
4 Superconferences. +1 BCS. This makes for a 16 team playoff system automatically, with each conference, not the NCAA, determining their teams, venues, seeds, etc. NCAA just gets to make the BCS matchups and host the +1 game. But everybody wins, except for the bowls.

I agree. It's like saying that bringing in Michigan State brings the Michigan market or that brining in Northwestern brings the Illinois Market or that Syracuse brings the New York Market.
Not everyone in TX is an Aggie fan just like not everyone in Michigan is an Michigan State fan.

Not everyone in Florida is a UF fan, but guess which game is on national tv every week? With the exception of TU vs OU, A&M vs most SEC teams will likely get higher ratings in the state of Texas. That many television sets = $$.

This is a stupid point, NW and SU are small private schools. Mich State and TAMU are large state schools.

who said everyone in Texas was an A&M fan? Not everyone in Texas is a UT fan either. A&M has one of the largest enrollments and there for largest alumni bases in the country and a good # of T-Shirt fans in the 2nd largest state.

This is everything to do with MONEY, TV Contracts, Viewers.
NOTHING to do with a more competitive conference.
PAC12, Big 10, etc will be going to 14 teams or 16. SEC will need to do the same to have competitive TV contracts.
Adding Texas gets the APPEARANCE of adding a new market.
Mizzou adds the St Louis and Kansas City Markets (or so the SEC will say to ESPN).
That's all this is about.
