because high school recruits deciding between Texas and A&M will have to choose between playing in the SEC or playing in the Pac-10 (assuming that Texas goes west)...

Exactly. If A&M AND Oklahoma come to the SEC it would absolutely destroy Texas recruiting in the long run.

Ever been to Austin, much less UT? Taken a tour of the facilities? Ain't nuthin' gonna destroy that. Texas is going to get their recruits, period. Austin is too cool and UT can afford the best of everything.

I think the Texas State Legislature has said that Texas and A&M have to be in the same Conference or something like that! You know it is about money!

Even Texas fans agree it would hurt their recruiting.

None of them have the fertile recruiting base that Texas possesses.

But they wouldn't have the recruiting class filled up in time for brown to spend the summer golfing anymore, either.

this. UT will always be the best in Texas. A&M moving to the SEC won't change that.

Meaning they won't be able to finish six months before signing day like they do now. Those schools going to the SEC certainly isn't great for Texas, but it will always be the number one school in the state by far.

Some bad, bad takes in this thread by some obvious non-Texans.

As usual, mattz is spot-on.

What's funny is Texas not being interested in the SEC due to low academic standards. Not saying it could not be part of the equation but the main expansion driver is all about dollars.
