I personally think they will. They come to the SEC, they get a big chunk of money every year. They get out of debt. They then can afford a good coach. Who then can recruit some good talent from Texas. And before ya know it they are a pretty good team. I mean the aren't really bad now.

Is A$M really in debt? They have an endowment of over $5 billion dollars.

I think A&M in the SEC will be a thorn in OU/UT's side.

A&M will be able to recruit based on conference strength. . .and conference recognition.

This could be a nightmare scenario for Texas, if UT ever starts to slip.

They will most definitely improve. There is no doubt in my mind. They may actually be competitive against Texas again (assuming they keep playing) several years down the road. The money they will make, plus getting kids that want to compete against the best in the SEC (not the Pac whatever) and just being forced to get better against better competition where football really matters.

And more exposure for the SEC and LSU in Texas will make it tougher on instate recruiting. OU may not have quite the same stronghold they have had.

I think they will improve over time. It will take a few years and a coach that can do more with less for a few of those years. But if they have some success in the SEC, recruits will start flocking to their school. I estimate they'll get 3 or 4 recruits a year that might not have gone to aTm, just because they are in the SEC now. That will increase as they become more successful.

I do. I think they will benifit in recruiting, and when the Pac 1000 proves to be a collosal failure in interest level, they will benifit even more in garnering the attention of UTx recruits. But honestly, I think that by seperating themselves from Texas, they will no longer be seen as little brother, but a school with it's own identity and mission statement. They need this.

And look, I'm no A&M fan by any stretch, but looking at things through their eyes, I think it would be a huge move for them in declaring their own sovereignty, moving out of daddy's house and beginning their own life.

definitely better for program...they will be able to tell kids from Texas and Louisiana they recruit that 7-10 of their games will be in driving distance for parents and friends (home games AT tamu, plus LSU, Arky and assumedly UT if they keep playing)...

They would definitely improve. They may even pull some recruits away from Texas because some of the players may want to play in the SEC.

They will improve big time and it's a big win situation for them if they can get a guaranteed commitment to play against Texas as a OOC game every year. This would be their window of opportunity to get out of UT's shadow and sell themselves as the only Texas team in the SEC to in-state recruits. They will be stupid to not take an SEC offer. I'm afraid that this will also work against LSU.

The travel distance is unreal. The two Arizona games, which would be division games, are as far away as South Carolina. Then you add in two out of division, and that just plain sucks!

I haven't looked close, but they may actually travel less distance in the SEC than they did in the big 12.

A Down A&M is competitive with tu. 2-2 over the last 4 years. Anyone who saw the 2009 game saw a hell of a game. A&M playing 18 true freshmen went toe to toe with 'em.

Special teams arghhh! KO return and missed FGs.

WE're still recovering from the waning years of RC and the failed Fran experience. Alabama can thank us now for taking the fraud off of their hands!

in another thread, a guy from A&M says that the furthest they would travel in the SEC is to USCe.. which is still closer than Colorado..

A&M will improve because they will recruit in Texas for the SEC against Texas in the PAC10. A&M always played second fiddle to Texas, but not if they join the SEC. OKIE would be a good fit too with so many living in Texas markets. The TV markets in Texas for the SEC with A&M and Okie could overshadow Texas.
