is this for sure 100% factual? because if it is, i highly doubt wvu has been told "no". i doubt anyone sends in the paperwork without being already told "yes", the paperwork is a formality.
One would think WV knew the answer before they applied. It wasn't some random application.

WVU is definitely a good cultural fit. They would be a solid, but unspectacular addition. Personally, I would have no qualms with the add, though I'd prefer Mizzou given the option.

It's been reported on ESPN and NBCNews among others and hasn't been denied by either side. So I'm assuming this is true....

Who is this person: Per Mike Casazza...
i saw the original tweet on the W. Virginia rivals website. Obviously, no one knows for sure except the appropriate powers, but i can just curious as to who Mike Casazza is
He's a sports reporter for the Charleston Daily Mail. He's been extremely negative about WVU to the SEC in the past few days so I'm not taking anything he's saying as fact

Nope. I'm in VA Beach. Just heard their AD on the radio saying that the SEC was not the best fit for VT. Sounded pretty committed to staying in the ACC and hinted that a 16-member conference was not unlikely.

People don't understand that some teams actually want to compete for a National Title. Going to the SEC and loading up that conference would severely hurt those chances unless we go to a 8-16 team playoff.
From what I'm reading and hearing in Missouri they're not itching to join the SEC, want the BIG. SEC will be last option when the Big 12 break up and conferences start going after the left overs.

VT is very content with winning the ACC every other year and its about to get even easier with them watering down their football

So, VT is out, MO and WVU are looking like they're out, OU/OSU seem westward bound, who does that leave? FSU, Clemson... Who else?

not really.

WVU would rank last in the SEC in Academic rankings even worse than MSU by 7 spots. I know academics aren't as big in the SEC as other conferences, but WVU is really lowly ranked.
Mizzou would actually improve the SEC's ranking in that area as would Va Tech.
FSU wouldn't make much of a negative difference though either (#101 and SEC rank with A&M goes to 96)

WVU rivals site denying this is true.

I'm not saying Mizzou is out. Just what I'm hearing on the radio and reading in STL's and KC's papers. Now Columbia might have a different more positive feel about the SEC. MOST people believe it'd hurt Mizzou football because of the tougher competition.

For the record, WVU has been increasing their standards a lot in the past 5-10 years. Hell, we jumped 12 places from last year in that poll. But again, how do you determine academic rankings? Not claiming to be Harvard here but we're not a community college

Might want to tap ur breaks there guy. Your team isn't in a real conference yet

I'll guarantee you that we land in the ACC or SEC and Cincy will be in the Big 12/Big East leftovers

Just wondering, what does Mizzou have that WVU doesn't? A St. Louis or Kansas City market they probably carry 4% of the population in?

I really don't understand what "academic" ranking have to do with a university's athletic program. Wish someone could post some links into why academics is important when most football and basketball players struggle just as bad as normal students. And from what I hear they have it a hell of a lot easier than regular students, not going into that. Hell some even have to go the JUCO route before they can get into some of these major schools.
