They pretty much bring nothing besides a decent football program.

While historically correct, that would be a hell of a reason not to invite WVA to the SEC.

I agree. Just saying, they aren't southern. Every state that has a presence in the SEC presently has a star in the Confederacy. It would be the first time a school from a state that didn't have a star was admitted.

I personally would rather VTech, but not because of the Virginia star, but they would bring us a much bigger market than WV and are more of a power than WV year in and year out.

No, it was a matter of issue on whether they were Southern or not.

WV doesnt have top talent football..but Morgantown is 6 miles from PA, which is loaded with football talent...

Other than a few hundred miles further south, Im not sure what VT brings that WVU couldn't...and dont bring academics into this...this is about sports, not the chess club...

The DC market isn't all vt's they do not have a firm grip on it.

Sure about that? WVU has more BCS wins and when VT was in the BE they were scrapping to be a top 3 team. Once they went to the ACC they ran shite now what does that say about the ACC.

as far as "not in the South" goes...one trip through West Virginia and you would notice that its just like Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, or any other southern state that I've driven through...and people aren't any different...

Pennsylvania is where people start to turn "yankee"...

i know i was just poking fun, but even if the state was formed b/c it didn't agree with the confederacy lots of the states people are southern

There are only two ways West Virginia gets out of the Big East.

1) SEC expands to sixteen teams but aren't able to get more than one ACC team to accept a move to the SEC. Needs West Virginia to balance the divisions.

or

2) All 12 ACC teams stay put and Swofford decides the ACC needs to expand to sixteen teams in order to keep up with the rest of the conferences. ACC sends out invites to Pitt, Syracuse, Rutgers and West Virginia.

Those are the only two ways. If the SEC takes two teams from the ACC, WV will get screwed. The ACC will invite Pitt and Syracuse to fill the open slots because they offer bigger markets and good academics.WV will then be left holding their dicks on the sidelines. So you better start praying that the SEC doesn't raid the ACC.

WVU should join the Big-10, 11, 12, its a northern team, like OSU and Michigan.

The bigwigs of the Big Ten will laugh West Virginia out of the building if WV came to them. Their academics are way, way, way below the standards of the Big Ten.

That's my litmus test for whether you're in the South or not. For instance, Houston eats grits and so is Southern, but Dallas serves more hash browns, and so I fashion them as blue bellys.

No grits, but i had some a few weeks ago at my grandmas...Had fried potatoes with eggs and bacon this morning, does that count?

also have a gallon of fresh brewed sweet tea in the fridge....sweet enough for a weekly visit to the dentist...

Now can WVU get in?

Never been there. Just meesing around. I think their culture is much more Southern than Yankee for sure. Surely down to earth and not snooty.
