LSU's fans seem to be the only ones complaining about the permanent rivals.

BINGO FRIGGIN' BINGO. why does lsu have to give up playing ut, uga AND florida just so friggin bama can play ut. that's bull shite.
Seems like you should be against expansion then. Regardless of the scheduling setup, adding more teams to the league will only make the rotations longer.

Once we go to 16 (and we will) it's only going to be worse for them.

Maybe they should schedule UT and UGA as OOC games, like the guy told us

LSU fanbase isn't scared of UF. Maybe in '90's but not now.
Fair is fair though.
And just because something is a tradition and has been done for a long time doesn't make it "fair".
See slavery. It was a long standing southern tradition too, but thankfully it's been abolished. Growth=Change
Yes...that just happened. I just compared Bama/UT ti slavery. Ha ha!!
Good point was brought up earlier about Slive having power to go with 9 or 10 team majority. I just think Slive is a pu$$y.
Then again Ive never met many lawyers I'm fond of.

I couldn't care less about Bama - Tenn.

longer for LSU you mean. and unnecessarily so. you keeping YOUDR "protected" game means OUR rotation becomes twice as long. you have to be smart enough to see that so you are just playing your damn gump card. the math is elementary and you gumps name calling are merely deflecting the truth. YOU WILL STILL BE ABLE TO PLAY TENNESSEE. just not as often. just like LSU and the other teams. and if the other teams fans aren't complaining, it's maybe it's because they are the cowards that don't want to play the power teams of the east more often. one of the things that makes the sec great is road trips to gainsville, athens, knoxville, nashville and lexington. i'm agains't UNNESSESARILY doubling the length of time between trips. but, resume with your deflections now.

If the powers that be in the SEC felt the same way as you, then that's how it would be. Alabama and Tennessee don't have the votes themselves to protect their game. Thankfully, the conference leaders disagree with your view on permanent cross-divisional rivalries, so you are out of luck for now.

Not at all. Getting rid of the Bama/UT game is not going to magically make the rotation move along at 2x the speed, certainly not with 2 more teams added to the mix.
If you're so opposed to long rotations, you should join Bama and Tennessee in opposing. It's only going to get longer with every addition.

Holy shite. Do you really believe that?
And a 9 game conference won't happen because the SEC will want as many teams as bowl eligible as possible for more money. Otherwise it would fix this argument. Bama keeps Tenn and everybody gets to play cross divisional opponents in a timely manner
Posted on 10/19/11 at 12:11 am to LSU GrandDad
We need to go to 9 conference games.

No one expects you to. You're not involved in it. I don't personally care about Auburn/UGA, but that doesn't mean I don't recognize their time honored tradition as one of the things that makes this league great.

A 9 game conference schedule will happen when the SEC expands to 16 teams. There's really no way around that, so what's the harm in jumping to it earlier rather than later?

You could do 8 with 4 pods. 9 would make more sense but 8 could be done.
I don't see 16 happening anytime soon though

8 with 4 pods really complicates things. It leaves you with 5 games to spread around three pods. 9 is much cleaner.

I didn't see 14 happening anytime soon after Texas pulled the Big whatever back together, yet here we are...

You mean after they tried to blow it up?!

Don't forget that Texas started all this shite. Not Nebraska, Colorado, or Texas A&M

I would point the finger at Missouri and the Big Ten myself, but I understand the basis for your opinion.

Big difference between slavery and the TSIO. I'm sure the slaves didn't want to be slaves anymore. Neither UA nor UT want the game to end.

I definitely think they should just go ahead and overrule bama and ut. They'll bitch about it, but then they'll get over it and the conference will be better for it In the end. The permanent opponents have worked out ok thus far, but with an extra team in each division, and without going to 9 conference games, it just doesn't make sense anymore.
Bama and UT aren't going to leave the conference or anything like that, so I see no reason to accommodate them if its not in the conference's best interest.
