Should be the only ones in consideration for the east. In that order.

The first two would be great additions and bring in new tv markets.

The other two don't bring in tv markets, but bring in great traditions and SEC like atmosphere. I may be the only gamecock fan that wouldn't mind Clemson in the SEC.

Unfortunately, it appears that none of them are likely to be invited. It appears to be a choice between Missouri or West Virginia.

I'd like Clemson or FSU. Anyone else, no thanks.

None of those have any interest in the SEC. The teams in stable conferences without a ton of competition are happy right where they are. It is the Big 12 and Big East teams that are begging for new homes right now because they know that when the megaconference era begins, those 2 conferences will be left out of the playoff picture.

UNC will NEVER leave the ACC. Them and Duke are the two that will never leave. VT won't come to the SEC, because there is some law in the state of VA that won't allow them and UVA to be in seperate conferences anymore.

I like:
FSU
NC State
Clemson

If we can't get VT, I think NC State would be the best choice

I'd love to have VT or UVA and UNC or NCSU. But I think we're barking up the wrong tree thinking anyone is going to leave the ACC.

Right now the most likely scenario for 16 is A&M, OU, OSU and Mizzou to the West, and Bama and Aubie to the East (brutal division).

Once A&M is official and other dominoes start falling (Pac-16, Big-16), things might open up.

I don't think you get NCState because of their ties with UNC, and likewise for VTech and UVA.

FSU or Clemson would be my preferences, but I don't think either one is as likely as WVU at this point.

So I take it LSU fans are fine with never playing Alabama or Auburn again because that is what that scenario means. :yack:

I'd rather just go ahead and add West Virginia and be done with expansion if it means avoiding realignment of teams from West to East. Either that or add Missouri to the SEC East therefore keeping the divsional format intact.

In a perfect world, if expansion HAS to happen I want either Virginia Tech or NC State as the 14th team to balance out the divisions. That way you simply replace 1 non-conference game with the new team in each division. Such a simple thing to do yet I'm afraid the SEC will screw it up by insisting on ruining the conference with 16 teams. :yack:

With 8-team divisions, you could play your seven divisional games and one permanent rival from the other side. That way no one could win the West by just playing Vandy, Kentucky and SC from the East.

I would have no problem kicking Auburn's cheating arse to the curb. I think Bama would want us for a permanent rival out of all the teams in the West.

Why the VT love fest? They routinely get embarrassed in OOC and bowl games and are farther away from DC than WVU is.

1) It's in Virginia, not West Virginia
2) You can drive there easily from Knoxville

Why leave the ACC where any of them might win a title and risk being 2nd tier in the SEC?

Competition. Virginia Tech has as good a shot (if not better) of making the national title game with 1 loss in the SEC than they do going undefeated in the ACC. They would have won the SEC East in all likelihood last year anyway so they can't certainly compete with the top SEC teams. Other than the 2007 LSU game in BR, they've been extremely competitive with the top SEC teams over the last several years.

Maryland could be a possibility. Get the Beltway markets. VT an UVA might be tied at the hip with each other with all of the work the Gov. did to get VT in the ACC. NC State could be a viable because they seem to have the A&M complex of being the little brother of the state. If they were to get NC State and Maryland, Mizzou would be a good 16th team IMO.

West Virginia would be a huge addition to the SEC in my opinion. They have a very strong fan base and what a beautiful place to tailgate.
