and they contribute in pretty much everything other than football.

This idea that they can or would be kicked out is just silly.

We love Vandy. (They've got a great baseball program too.)

I'm not saying Vandy could be leaving, but it would add a little more suspicion to that theory if the one school official that won't be present at tomorrow's meeting was actually Vandy's

Vandy is that girl in the beauty pageant who doesn't have perfect teeth, a boob-job, or great legs. However, when the talent portion comes around, she flawlessly performs a selection from the Beethoven Violin Concerto in D Major and offers a nuanced view of world events, rather than a simple statement avocating world peace.

And after the pageant is over, she'll drink a couple of beers with you.

I don't want Vandy going anywhere.

So is Georgia Tech...but all the media sources claim that UG is in some sort of an alliance with SC and UF to block their season-finale rivals (GT, Clemson, and FSU) from joining the SEC. Apparently being a charter member doesn't carry too much weight...

Not exactly. They tried abolishing their athletic department a few years back--something no other school anywhere is crazy enough to do, even in so-called "academic" conferences like the Ivy League--and this shows how little VU values trying to keep their level of competition up with the rest of the conference. In fact, they don't even field teams for 25% of the sports that the league sponsor titles in. This, in my opinion, is reason enough to expel them from the league. Schools that join the SEC should be willing to field teams in all sports offered by the league.

The absolute need for a 14th team is all a bunch of spin and smear from ESPN. There will likely NOT be a 14th team until 2013.

Believed this all along.

We need Vandy to keep our GPA up. Texas A&M will also help.

Those two analogies are nothing alike...

GT voluntarily left in the first place, and not on good terms.

Big 10???? Vandy suited for Big East. They don't want to quit getting Sec paychecks.

Actually they did.
They have no athletic Department.
athletics are now a part of the university's Division of Student Life.

they want to leave. They can't compete monetarily and in football. They want to move to the Big 10 with the likes of Northwestern and Michigan, schools they feel they are more similar to academically.

you think vandy leaves the SEC b/c it can't afford to stay, and that it will have an easier time in the big10?

Honestly either conferences they join I don't think they'll have an easier time and both conferences make a lot of money. (B1G schools made something like 22 Mil each last year)

Just so happens they are a charter member of the SEC, they'll stay here.

i have no idea why vandy would want to leave, or why we all wouldn't throw a bitch fit if they tried

and yeah, the big10 has a shite ton of earners, just like the SEC

exactly. It's not like going to the B1G is gonna revitalize their football program and they'll start going to rose bowls, or kill them monetarily because they still get a pretty wealthy TV contract.

but it's not like they're gonna leave or the SEC will ask them to anyway.

and while the big10 has much better schools, i think vandy likes being the #1 school in the SEC

they'd be possibly 3rd or 4th in the big10 (northwestern, michigan, possibly wisconsin)

Vandy is ranked higher than Wisconsin and Michigan.

But Ya I agree they'd rather be the Smart guys in a Non Academic conference instead of just one of the many.
