Actually, the OP is a pretty good idea. Add TCU and Houston, send OU and OSU to the North Division (of course maintaining an annual OU-Texas game), and hold the Big 12 together with a new TV contract. Fine for Texas, they'll get paid regardless, and the five schools staring down the barrel of the Mountain West will certainly go along with it.

quote:Exactly. If Texas would make all that money in the Pac-10, they would have joined today, too. But they haven't. That's because the Pac-10 might not be what's best for them.

Frankly, they could add Tulane and Rice and still be fine. In fact, Tulane might not be a bad idea--nice little semi-annual recruiting trip to Louisiana every other October......
Seriously, the Longhorns should just say, "Go ahead and leave--more room for us."

This is pathetic. It's like Texas just wants a cake walk to the title game. For crying out loud play some decent teams Texas and Oklahoma and maybe you won't get embarrased when you do make a title game and play a high calibur team. If you are a Texas fan stop trying to find a way to make your team not play anyone of importance, Shame on you.

I am by no means a Texas fan, but are you saying that they got embarrassed by Bama last year, even while losing their starting QB and team leader? That loss didn't look too embarrassing to me.

Their TV money would eventually dry up, and top recruits would eventually start going to leagues where the competition prepared them better for the NFL.

The big 12 needs to disappear. For the most part it's a 2 team race every year between Texas and Oklahoma. They play nobody else that is good and they get an automatic bid the the title game? WTF? Texas will now have to go to the pac-10 and play USC and Oregon and that scares the shite outta the school and it's fans. They just better be lucky they aren't headed to the SEC.

If all the big dogs leave your conference, just STAY PUT. Free ticket to the BCS every single year, and you can schedule beaucoup good OOC games.
They can certainly do that, especially if they move forward with the Longhorn Sports Network that's been in the works since 2008.

I am saying that Texas would have lost worse if McCoy was in that game. The 2 best defenses he played that season were Nebraska and Oklahoma and he was a non factor in both those games. He took one decent shot from Alabama and he was a goner.

quote:Right. When you're in a top 3 conference, you need to balance out your schedule with some Sun Belters.
eta....in 2008 they played Rice, UTEP, and Florida Atlantic. Yep....those are fricking power programs!
lets see here....2007, they played Rice and Arkansas state.
When you're in a weak conference, you're afforded a couple more opportunities to play great teams from around the country.
Understand?

The reason the SWC disbanded is because it was not working. That has not changed.
UT will not always be as good as they have been the last decade or so, they will have have down years.
Oh and you can't just schedule who ever you want OOC. They have to agree to play you.

LOL. Texas plays Oklahoma........Thats it. That is the only legitimate school they play every year. Tech, OSU, and Nebraska are up and down and not consistent every year. The top teams are in the SEC period. Texas is basically the best of the worst.

yes, do you understand the inherent contradiction in your comment? Where are the great OOC teams Texas can schedule going to come from? Especially If the other great teams are in tougher conferences and not scheduling tough OOC games? You can't just schedule teams, they have to agree to play you, and better teams will generally not agree to a game unless it is a home and home.

I understand that your playing catchup and trying to fill in holes.....I totally get it. Just making sure you actually post the truth. You conveniently leave out all those pushovers like they didn't even play them......and then say they have only played one cupcake in one half of a decade.....

What is the difference between the first phone and the second phone?
Hint: There's a lot more noise coming from the left side of the screen.
Texas will never have trouble scheduling games. They could schedule a home/home with almost any SEC team by tomorrow.

I realize that I made a mistake in assuming that most on this board could jump from A to C.
