Here's the checklist for being southern. You have to answer yes to at least half of these to even be considered "possibly southern".
1. Do you like college football? Yes.
2. Do you dip or chew tobacco? No. Tried it but didn't like it. But I used to smoke. Blech.
3. Are you religious? Yes.
4. Do you drink sweet tea? Yes.
5. Do you own a truck? No.
6. Are you conservative? Yes.
7. Do you like Nascar? No.
8. Do you live south of the Mason Dixon line? Not anymore but did for most of my life.
9. Did your ancestors fight for the confederacy? Not certain about which side they fought on. Ancestors/relatives in Shenandoah Valley probably fought for Virginia.
10. Do you love Walmart? When I lived near one, Yes.
11. Do you love Waffle House hashbrowns? Yes, when drunk.
12. Do you own 5 or more firearms? No.
13a. Do you know what "Chitterlings" and "Mountain Oysters" are? Yes. But don't eat them.
13b. If yes, do you eat them anyways? I prefer real oysters and fried seafood. It's a Louisiana thing.
14. When you hear a tornado siren, is that your queue to go outside and look for a funnel? Yes.
15. Have your or your friends scheduled a wedding/funeral around a football game? Yes.
16. When you refer to a soft drink, do you call it "Coke" even if it's a Pepsi product? What is this thing you call Pepsi?
17. When you eat Asian food, do you always call it "Chinese food" regardless of the fact that it might be korean, japanese, or thai? No, I lived in Hawaii for 3 years and don't think all Asian food is the same.
18. Do you measure distance in minutes instead of miles? In Baton Rouge traffic, yes.
19. Is "yall" a word? Yes.
20. Do you always say "sir" or "ma'am" if there is even a chance someone is 30 seconds older than you? No. In Louisiana, it's "Mr. [First Name] and Miss [First Name].
