true but why not make football better. IMO Kansas doesn't offer much with football. (At least by SEC standards)

There is the possibility of making football too good. If we make the SEC so stout that nobody can finish a season without two losses, even if the polls and BCS realize its because of superior competition, it could hurt the SEC.

true. But I think adding Texas A&M and either Clemson or Virginia Tech would be perfect.

I just want A&M. That was my favorite LSU rivalry game in the '80's and early '90's. If my memory serves, they won the last 4 or 5, so I'm ready to renew the rivalry and take some revenge.

This could quickly become a top-2 rivalry for both teams. Hell, if Texas refuses to play A&M (don't think they will), this could become both teams' top rivalry game.

I don't really care who else we get to round things out, just bring on A&M.

me either.

Yeah I've been in support of Texas A&M. I'm glad to see it seems like they are in.

it might have been as simple as to add UT/A&M and slide Bama to the East. Leave Auburn in the West.

It would make more sense to put Auburn in the East. That's where more of their traditional rivalries are. They used to play Georgia, Tennessee and Florida every year before they got put into different divisions, then Georgia and Florida every year until the SEC went to two rotating interdivisional games instead of one in 2002. They never had an annual rivalry with anybody in the West other than Alabama until divisional play began. Alabama's only Eastern division traditional rivals are Tennessee and Vanderbilt, while LSU, Ole Miss and Mississippi State are traditional Western opponents for them.

Yes, and so is A&M, in my opinion.

A&M and VT would be great. Clemson, not so much, although from a fan culture perspective they'd fit very well. VT is the dominant team in the Washington DC market, so adding them would bring a lot of exposure for the SEC in an area where it currently has very little. A&M, of course, would bring the Texas market, which would also be very good for the SEC.

If we can't get A&M, then maybe add VT (if we can get them) and one other ACC team, either UNC or Miami, then move Tennessee, Vandy or Kentucky to the West. Tennessee would make sense because they would then be reunited with their traditional rivals Alabama, Auburn and Ole Miss, while the only ones they would lose from the East would be Vandy and Kentucky.

I really hope A&M goes SEC! Kansas wouldn't be bad addition IMO. Better than Mizzou.

No teams from the east really expand the SEC market unless they go after a UNC & Duke option or VT & West Virgina.

What really stinks is that it seems the SEC might not be as aggressive as these other conferences and have to choose from some leftovers. I'd rather see SEC go west than east

UNC or Va Tech would make more sense than Clemson. But I agree with the person that said UNC will not separate from Duke. It may not be that easy to lure Va. tech-state politics might play into that one also.

Someone has probably already commented on this in the hundreds of threads, but what about Oklahoma?

Are they even considered by the SEC?

Be gentle.

Besides TAMU, Va Tech, UNC, and FSU are heavily coveted by the SEC. There are plan B teams too.
