I agree with you on everything but Clemson. SC doesn't want Clemson in SEC. It doesn't really expand the conference and it will not equall the dollars other area's of the country will.

Even though I would love to travel to Death Valley and they would probaly blend into the SEC better than any other school on any list. I just don't think it happens with them.

It is all about money and we already have SC.

Perhaps not. I think they get quite alot of money. God knows they have a ton of fans.

i agree with you and have no interest in Clem's son. Not that Slive has asked me.

If we assume Texas/OU/OkState are gone, this is my wish list:

1. A&M
.
. (gap)
.
2. UNC/Duke (doubtful)
3. VTech
4. Miami
5. Mizzou (just for the KC/St Louis markets and to even out the expansion some)
6. F$U

I don't think SEC takes more than two. Slive offered Texas and A&M to move Bama and Auburn if they both came.

Uh, even if you add UT & TAMU to the west and shift UA & AU, you still have to add two more teams to the west. The SEC is not gonna have a 6 team division and an 8 team division.

agreed. Which is why i think we should just add 1 to the East and 1 to the west with no realignment.

it might have been as simple as to add UT/A&M and slide Bama to the East. Leave Auburn in the West.

Doesn't matter since Texass is high-tailing it to the left coast.

I wouldn't mind Clemson.

The only reason the SEC wouldn't take Clemson is because it doesn't really expand the TV market. And the only reason South Carolina doesn't want Clemson is because we would lose the "We play in the SEC" recruiting edge.

If you're going to add an ACC team that that will split a market with an existing SEC team then add FSU not Clemson.

FSU fits just as well as Clemson, and that would make it much harder for Florida to dominate the SEC.

Add 2 of FSU, UNC, Va tech to the east

Add TAMU & Kansas to the west

Clearly someone from the East would have went to the West in the deal. It could have been Vandy. But I don't think the SEC will take more than two IMO....

Va Tech - total SEC culture
UNC - great school
Texas A&M, I'm not a TAM fan, but the are SEC-like in the culture and would fit in. Even though they're second-fiddle I'd rather them than UT.

All are in states that would grow SEC's reach.

----
NO TO:

Ga Tech - would lose constantly in the SEC

Clemson - mainly don't want them because they have the same mascot, fight song, and stadium name as LSU. I want them far away.

This from a Georgia fan.

And adding Kansas with UNC would make the SEC the best basketball conference.

If you go with four then A&M, Va Tech, Missouri and +1.

A&M - great fan base, tradition, Texas TV market.
Va Tech - great fan base, tradition, Virginia TV market
Missouri - I'm not sure about the fan base but the Missouri (StLouis/Kansas City) TV market
+1 - North Carolina is the only state not included. If NC or NC State can't be brought in then forget about it. Three state markets are already brought into the SEC. How to build on what we already have? Maybe Ga Tech or Clemson. Both have alot fans and both have tradition.

Football is clearly far and away the biggest factor, but if you think basketball and other variables aren't being taken into consideration, then you're ignorant.

no I'm not saying it isn't a factor but it is less of a factor than you think. Kansas won't be added imo.

Probably not.

All I'm saying is the SEC doesn't have to add Texas, OU, etc. to stay on top of the mountain in football. The SEC will remain the gold standard IMO.

If you can maintain your status as tops in football and in the meantime become tops in basketball, I say it should be given serious consideration.

Believe me, I know football is where the money is.
