Touche. But still, it can't be ignored. LSU and Ole Miss are going to play every year. No matter what.

I think Slive needs to get his arse to Morgantown and experience gameday up there for himself this weekend.

Should be a crazy atmosphere with all of the LSU and West Virginia fans in one place. An SEC atmosphere, if you get what I'm saying.

Do away with permanent cross division rivalries.

So many more opportunities

Would only work if both Bama and Auburn move to the East.

If they want more opportunities, they should switch them so the divisions aren't based on geography.

Not at all

Just do away with the yearly bama/UT, lsu/UF, auburn/georgia games.

Make them every 2 years or something instead and rotate all the teams.

WHY? Seems much simpler to put Missouri in the East, of SEC14 (much better than SEC16). This map someone posted at texags helps illustrate it:

You could have A&M and MU be permanent cross-rivals (as the newbies, like Arky and SCarolina did), or shuffle some of the cross-rivals to make Arky and MU permanent cross-rivals, with say (simplest) SCarolina and A&M cross-rivals, not changing any others....

Nah, I'd rather us move to the east.

What about this possibility:

Auburn and Alabama stay together and move east; Vandy moves west.

West: LSU, A&M, Arky, Mizzou, Ole Miss, Miss State, Vandy

East: Bama, Auburn, Tenn, UGA, Florida, SC, Kentucky

I think this is a high possibility and it completely sucks. We would essentially replace games with bama and auburn with A&M and Mizzou. The games with auburn and bama are some of the best in college football and the road trips are great. Going to Missouri and east Texas instead of Tuscaloosa and Auburn would be gross.

Yep. Seeing it with a map makes it easier to convince myself, like you said.

Missouri to the East. Not sure if their permanent rival would be A&M (old Big 12 rivalry) or Arkansas (border rivalry).

It'll be fun to see either way.

ETA: Like I said before, most of the East division is pretty far north. The only far trip for Missouri would be to Florida.

1) The East would be way too loaded with traditional powers.

2) No yearly game between LSU/Alabama, Ole Miss/Alabama, etc. Some old yearly rivalries would be lost.

3) Mostly reason #1.

I give you #1.

However, I don't think the SEC cares about no more permanent LSU/bama or Ole Miss/bama. I think they will be foaming at the mouth at bama/Florida and bama/UGA every year. Moreover, moving bama and auburn east keeps most of the rivalries intact. bama/auburn; bama/tennessee; auburn/uga. The only ones that end up getting tossed are tennesee/kentucky and tennesee/vandy and I don't think the SEC really cares about those.

I don't like the scenario at all. However, it makes sense from a $ and ratings standpoint. Therefore, I don't think you can dismiss it.

The easy answer will be to put Missouri in the East.

Why not put Bama/Auburn in the East and move Vandy to the West to keep balance and perm rivalries?
