They're historically a very significant team

I agree with this.

My point is not that Nebraska isn't worthy of praise, respect, etc. My point is that a conference that has Texas and OU as members remains significant enough to have an automatic bid to the BCS. The Big XII-Lite is at least as significant as some of the other automatic bid conferences.

I am pretty sure that is relevant to the point of this thread.

this is a huge loss. the two schools they lost are two of the four that have a n.c. in the last thirty years.

this put's them on the level of the big east. not a very good conference w/o a championship game.

a one loss, s.e.c., big x, acc, pac 10 should get in the n.c. game before a ZERO loss big 12 team. ut and ou have to win one game a year. that's it.

I disagree. Everyone else in the conference is Miss St level. That's like saying the MWC should have an auto BCS bid now, because they have Boise St. and TCU at this point. And I forgot Utah also.

Boise St is undefeated the last couple years, and beat Oklahoma in a BCS game.

That is a good point. However, that OU win was four years ago, not during the recent unbeaten streak. The unbeaten streak is against a different caliber of opponent.

Still, you have made some good points. I agree that I may have overstated when I said the loss of Nebraska was not a big loss.

But I'll stick with my statement that the automatic bid is and should be safe for now.

Personal opinion - That is a BIG YES! Will it happen - no. That conference was already weaker -now with a re-energized Nebraska gone - it certainly has lost tons of appeal. UT and OU have cake walks.

Oregon was in the current streak and they proved to be pretty good last year. You've also got to figure Utah in the mix too, they beat a 12 win Bama team recently and went 10-3 last year.

Hell, at least starting in 2011, Boise (who tries to actually play tough OOC games) will have to beat TCU, Utah and BYU. Texas? Beat OU and maybe Tech and Okie State.

Exactly. Texas and OU schedule just got very light, and losing a championship game. That drops their conference down below some others that have made moves and made their conferences better.

In the mix? I'm a little confused.

Just switch the names of the conferences and be done with it.

Just as some had said none of the changes were all that big. The big 10 still sucks and so does the big 12, and the PAC teen is just as sorry as it always has been.
