We have Houston with A&M. If we add another Texas school then I'm all for TCU as they would solidify the DFW market. Piss on Rice.

People are severely over-estimating how much of DFW TAMU actually brings. It's by far a UT and OU market, with A&M a distant third--all of that with the exception of Fort Worth, which has gotten behind the Frogs the past two years. Fort Worth is a city of 650K and is projected to be around 1.1M by 2030. It's growing that fast. Actually being in the market with that foothold would allow the SEC to push back against the PAC in the 5th largest DMA in the country. A&M won't do that from 3-4 hours away, though they'll deliver the shite out of #10 DMA Houston.

Actually the 2010 census put it at 741K within the city proper and 1.2M+ if you count the 'burbs like Benbrook, Sansom Park, etc... (LOTS of residential not within city proper but functions like Metarie is to NOLA).

The only thing holding TCU from gaining even more regional popularity are state school grads running the area media (Dallas and FW newspapers have a small, shared staff that relies heavily on outside sources rather than their own reporting). The big guys don't want to see TCU get a foothold - They're having enough trouble hanging on to their recruits as it is.

I firmly believe that if TCU were to join the SEC - you'd see an explosion in the marketshare and viewership numbers following the Frogs in the Metroplex. It could yield far greater than y'all are giving it credit for.

more sense than thinking teams will leave the ACC to come to the SEC.
This is a very good point. First of all, despite all SEC homerisms, the ACC is no slouch of a conference in football and in basketball. It has great national exposure. It won't cost teams, schools, and alums $20 million to stay in the ACC. The elephant in the room would be obvious - why would some well-established, well-positioned and successful team and school want to leave the ACC to get beaten up in the SEC, probably pushed down the middle of the pack at best, and pay $20 million for that privilege?

Whether Mizzou and TCU, or L'ville would be the next most logical moves for a further expansionist SEC, we'll just have to wait and see. And that's assuming WVU and aTm are both done deals at this point.

SEC won't go after Mizzou, not considered a "southern" school
as "southern" as Kentucky.

Because if they're a hoops/big-time baseball school (I can think of at least two that fit this model) you can sacrifice football and use the extra coin to build up the other sports.

Sure, UNC and Duke have a great hoops rivalry, but they could still play every year, and you add a home-and-home with Kentucky. And UNC and UVA would be great adds for SEC baseball.

Louisville doesn't add a new market and they have a very fickle fan base.

Their crowd against Fla. Int'l was pathetic to say the least. I'm out on them
