Slive always seemed like he had a master-plan but this is the most important time for conferences in the history of college football and the SEC is going to be a massive loser in all of this.

Eh I dont know about that...Im thinking thats gonna be UT and the like when they see the receipt after sending their womens volleyball team 4 times a year to Washington and Oregon. Especially once ESPN pulls the plug on the longhorn network in half a year.

I bet the other conferences were working behind closed doors to force the SEC to hold off until they got who they wanted so they could frick us into having to take their leftovers.

I agree. Slive started this mess and it looks like the SEC will be left with egg on their face. I think Tx AM is a good addition, but WV adds nothing in regards to TV markets, etc.

pure speculation on my part but i would think that at least one or two current ACC schools are poached by the SEC.

that may be why the ACC was so quick to jump at Pitt and Cuse - they want the replacements in place to head off talk about ACC going kaput like there is about the Big East.

It's about national markets, not regional markets. WVU adds value to the whole SEC package.

its the whole idea of any game vs a decent opponent is better than a game against a cupcake

lsu vs wvu is a larger national draw than lsu vs kentucky sort of thing

If WV is such a small media market, why is the largest Thursday and Friday night ratings in the history of ESPN college football involve WVU games?

West Virginia' academics are not that bad, with more Rhodes Scholars than any SEC school.

WVU gives the SEC the biggest fan following in the Northeast outside of Penn State, a school with recent BCS bowl wins over Georgia and Oklahoma, and a tremendous fan base.

WVU also would not bolt to the Big 10 like Missouri would.

being a quality team has nothing to do with realignment. if it did, notre dame would not be #1 on everyones list.

The sec wont take mizzu for several reasons:

#1 mizzu is waiting on an invite from the big ten and will take it asap the sec will not risk losing a member to them embarrassment factor is too great

#2 they want an eastern team for balance VT is out because they are tied to UVA for life VA politicians will get involved and VT is a state school and after all the political wrangling and string pulling they did to get them in the ACC no way they let them go Miami, FSU,Clemson,Georgia Tech, and Louisville are all out because they are already in SEC states

#3 WVU fits in the SEC footprint and after some research you will find their academics are on par with most SEC members and they have no hurdles to clear they will be available immediately.

if notre dame, texas, ohio state, michigan, florida etc start regularly playing thursday night games on ESPN do you really believe those ratings marks would still stand? my lord.
