AggiePride,

If aTm is coming to the SEC, then WELCOME! If you are an aTm fan, then WELCOME to TigerDroppings. I know that you may be new, but those of us who have been on sports boards since the 90's will probably be suspicious of your profile/posts. You have another profile on another board? Where?

Porky, that's a huge part of the allure of joining the SEC. Everyone I talk to here is estatic over the possibility of joining in. Culturaly I feel like we just "fit" in the conference, both politically and athletically. I actually hope we can re-work the Arkansas deal to play some home/home and manage to play every 3rd year in Dallas. I know that probably isn't likely but missing out on true home games in that old rivalry would be a big-time loss in my opinion.

Upon entering the league. Our contract would be VOID. It would be a home and home series. Which Dallas should be pretty much home to TAMU anyway. This fall will probably be the last of the Southwest Classic.

Juniper,
In general I am a Texags lurker, but this conference expansion fiasco has finally gotten me to the point of speaking my mind, just too much on the line this time and I hope for the sake of A&M's athletic future that we make the right choice. I saw some of the posts on Texags linking this message board so I figured I'd come over and chime in and get some SEC fan's opinions on how they think the Ag's would hold up to the immense upgrade talent-wise.

We know. Not if you go to the PAC-16.

I wasn't sure how that JerryWorld contract was structured, thanks for that reply, I know a lot of folks around here had been wondering what would happen if we end up joining the conference. I still like the Dallas idea, it's actaully a good neutral site for both teams.

Ya think Jerry could maybe come up with an alternative?

It's good exposure for both teams, I really do think Jerry will do whatever is needed to keep that game in Dallas. I'm not sure it benefits either school really, unless the payout is better than what a normal home-game would generate and to be honest, I have no idea if that is the case.

Howdy to all you SEC folks, I'm an Ag and I wanted to first say that I am amazed by the support you guys have shown in favor of Texas A&M joining the best athletic conference in the country! Now to the point of my post. I have been reading a lot of discussion regarding A&M's potential competitiveness in the SEC due to our, let's face it, 'porous' defense. We have yet to see new D-Coordinator Tim DeRuyter in action but judging by his past history of producing a hell of a defense with inferior talent at Ohio U, Nevada and Air Force, and with the assistant coaches hired this off-season (Dat Nguyen and Terrell William for example), I'm curious to see what you guys think A&M's defensive potential could be in regards to this move to the SEC? I'm holding out hope that we see significant improvement in DeRuyter's first year compared to what we Ag's have seen the past decade, which has been nothing short of pathetic. Thanks for any input on this fellas!

It's alright AU and Arky are still trying to learn how to play defense too

It's a substantial amount. I don't know the details of the contract but if it does in fact fall through, I'll bet Jerry has an alternative plan.

The first couple years are going to be tough. I don't think that any particular team in the SEC has so much talent that you don't stand a decent chance of winning. The problem is going to be with the physicality of the teams week in and week out. So the first couple of years I expect you'll start off good and fade as the year progresses. Don't worry, you'll toughening up quickly. It's like being in "Fight Club" now. In the beginning you are going to get beat until your mush, but after a couple years you are going to be made of wood. At that point you are going to start winning some games here or there that you shouldn't. This isn't like the Big-12 where you'll have 2 big games a year and they are rested and ready for you. You'll have 4 or 5 big games a year and sometimes they won't be so ready. They'll be worn down from a tough game the week before. Once you get a few knock downs, you'll get some swagger. Once you get some swagger, the recruits will start coming in. Then you're program will move up in the world. In the end, I think you'll be better on average than Arky because you'll do better recruiting (Don't worry Arky will still get their licks in). You'll probably end up right in the mix with LSU, Alabama, and Auburn. Some years you'll be up, some years you'll be down. Don't worry about the national championship... We're planning to keep it in the SEC from here on out. You're bound to get one. Hopefully you'll get to pound Texas or OU for it, but you might have to beat Ohio State. Either way, they all just lay down for the SEC in the MNCG.

Welcome to the SEC!

...And BTW, pretty soon you're going to get a nickname. Might be something like "Shumpers" for sheep humpers. Don't be offended. We've got gumps, and corn dogs, and barners, and gay-tards... etc. It's all in good fun. So when you hear "Frick off, shumper", just take that as "Welcome to the SEC, brother."

They've held up fairly well against you guys over the past few years.

I'm sure the Aggies will adjust well.
BTW: We're usually just the piggies/swine or Pig U, etc. We like being pigs/swine.

Thanks, Doc! We're used to dealing with tards (tech) and Mobilehoma, so the insults will be welcomed and I understand the respect that goes on in this conference. the Big 12 and SEC are so different, and in a very, very good way. Nobody stuck together in the Big 12, it was the tsips looking out for the tsips, other than that, there was no unity. We'll take our lumps and become better because of it, at least that's my hope. If only LSU would pay us that $100 grand..
I kid. Come on over to Texags and start up some pro-SEC talk, it can't hurt, and feel free to rip the whorns as much as you want.

I've never heard that one before. Then again, I don't suppose Louisiana can do much to use it.

Well I'm glad I could donate some form of shite-talk here even though it's about the Okies. I'm not sure many Sooner fans can dispute it anyway. I always wonder how many meth labs are destroyed every time a tornado rips through the Norman area.

I popped on there recently to read, but TD already eats up too much of my time already to start posting. There was a thread on TexAgs discussing whether A&M would be Arky's bitch or vice-versa. You can tell them that we don't have bitches in the SEC. The minute you think someone is your bitch, they kick your arse. Even Vandy and Kentucky get their licks in.

Quite frankly, I'm going to have a lot of fun with A&M in the SEC. I live in DFW and my father-in-law is an aggie (damn shumper... )

Doc I'm a DFW native, just never made it back from B/CS once I got down here. Living in the DFW area you know as well as anyone how bad the whorn media bias is in Texas, that's one of the major points of getting the hell out from under their stone. A&M can be successful apart from Texas, they don't like it, and they will fight this to the end and likely will end the rivalry game, yet somehow will blame it on A&M. That's fine. They can run their mouths and enjoy beating up on Arizona State, but I'm looking foward to building some sort of respectable program again against the best programs in the country if we get the invite.
